What laundry cabinetry costs.

Laundry cabinetry in Australia runs about $1,400–$1,600 per lineal metre supplied — cabinets made and delivered. A typical laundry lands around $2,500–$5,000 supplied, depending on run length, a trough and a benchtop. That's a planning band, not a quote — every real job is confirmed by a cabinet maker after a site measure, so get 2–3 local quotes.

Supplied means the cabinetry is made and delivered. Installed adds roughly one on-site fitting day (about $900) for a typical single-wall laundry — larger jobs take longer.

Job Supplied Installed (add ~1 day ≈ $900)
Per lineal metre $1,400–$1,600 / m Rate only — labour by total run
3 m front-load run
washer space, trough, storage, linen tower
≈ $4,450 (~$1,485/m) ≈ $5,350
Typical laundry $2,500–$5,000 ≈ $3,400–$5,900

Where the money goes.

A laundry price is mostly a handful of real component costs plus assembly. Here's what each cabinet is built from, and the drivers that move the total up or down.

Carcass sheets
A 16mm HMR carcass sheet (2400×1200, inc cutting and edging) is about $90. The number of sheets is the biggest fixed input — a short run needs fewer.
Benchtop
A 32mm MDF benchtop blank (2400×1200) is about $190. It runs over the washer space and trough cabinet to give you a folding and working surface.
Trough cabinet
A trough cabinet is a modest cabinet around 600mm wide, built from part of an HMR sheet plus a benchtop section. The trough tub or sink fixture itself is a plumbing item, bought separately.
Linen tower assembly
A tall linen tower is a full-height cabinet. Assembly on a tall cabinet runs $35–$55 each, on top of its carcass and door sheets.
Install day
On-site install is about $900 per day. A typical single-wall laundry is roughly one day; tight access or out-of-square walls add time.
Doors & hardware
Plain 18mm MDF is the door floor; shaker adds machining per sheet. Drawers cost more than doors, and Blum soft-close hinges sit above budget hinges.

What moves the price

01

Run length & carcass size. More lineal metres means more HMR sheets — boring, but the biggest driver.

02

Door style and finish. Plain 18mm MDF is the floor; shaker, two-pac paint, glass and timber-look board each add more.

03

Drawers vs doors. Each drawer box adds runners, assembly and more fronts, so drawers cost more than doors.

04

Hardware tier. Blum soft-close hinges and runners sit above budget hardware.

05

Internals. Basic shelving is cheap; specialty pull-outs and wire baskets add up.

06

Install & access. About $900 a day — tight sites, stairs and out-of-square walls add time.

Not included in the cabinetry number

Straight answers.

How much does laundry cabinetry cost?
Laundry cabinetry is roughly $1,400–$1,600 per lineal metre supplied, inc GST. A typical laundry lands around $2,500–$5,000 supplied, depending on run length, a trough and a benchtop. A 3-metre front-load run with washer space, trough, storage and a linen tower works out to about $4,450. These are planning bands, not quotes — get 2–3 local quotes after a site measure.
What's included and what's not?
The number covers the cabinetry — carcasses, doors, drawers, shelves, a benchtop and assembly. It excludes your appliances (washer and dryer), the plumbing, and the trough or sink fixture itself where that is supplied separately. Stone benchtop upgrades, splashback tiling, electrical and painting the room also sit outside the cabinetry figure.
Does a trough add much?
Not hugely. A trough cabinet is a modest cabinet around 600mm wide, built from part of a $90 HMR sheet plus a benchtop section — a 32mm benchtop blank is about $190. The trough tub or sink fixture itself is a plumbing item bought separately, so it is not inside the cabinetry number.
How much for a small laundry?
A short single-wall laundry sits at the lower end of the band. At roughly $1,400–$1,600 per lineal metre supplied, a compact one-to-two-metre run lands near the bottom of the typical $2,500–$5,000 laundry band. Fewer cabinets and a plain door finish keep it down.
What is the cheapest way to fit out a laundry?
Keep the run short, choose plain 18mm doors over shaker or two-pac, use doors instead of drawers, and pick budget hinges over soft-close. A shorter run means fewer $90 HMR sheets, which is the biggest fixed input. Fewer specialty pull-outs and a laminate benchtop over stone also keep the number down.
Does it include install?
The per-metre and typical bands are supplied prices — cabinets made and delivered, not fitted. On-site install runs about $900 a day. For a typical single-wall laundry, add roughly one install day, so an installed laundry lands around $3,400–$5,900. Tight access or out-of-square walls can add time.
