How to use Carcasso

Everything the app does today and how to change it — written against the current app, with the exact button names you will see. Nothing here needs a video: follow the steps with the app open beside you.

What Carcasso does#

Carcasso is a joinery design app that runs in your browser on a Mac, PC or iPad — nothing to install. You set your wall sizes in millimetres, drop in real cabinets for eight room types (kitchen, wardrobe and walk-in, laundry, bathroom vanity, TV unit, pantry, study and mudroom), and see the same design as a Plan, an Elevation and in 3D. From there you can share a read-only link, download an A3 plan set, and — if you are in the trade — print the door and drawer schedule with a rough sheet count (labels, the cut list and sheet layouts are coming soon).

It is built for two kinds of people who use the same job file: homeowners and renovators (the simple view) and cabinetmakers, joiners and designers (the full trade view). You can switch between them at any time.

Your first design in ten steps#

  1. Open the app. Go to carcasso.com.au/app/try to design without an account, or create a free account for a 14-day trial of everything. More
  2. Pick a room and a starter layout. Choose the room, then Use a ready-made layout (recommended) and tell us roughly how long the main wall is. More
  3. Set the real wall sizes. Open Room in the top bar and type each wall's Length, Height and Depth in mm. Add windows and doors. More
  4. Trace a floor plan (optional). Import a photo or PDF of the plan, set the scale from one known wall and draw over it. More
  5. Add cabinets from the Library. Drag a tile onto the plan; it snaps to its neighbours. More
  6. Change a cabinet. Click it, then press Enter or open Inspector — width, doors, drawers, shelves, colours and every part. More
  7. Pick colours. Type a Polytec or Laminex board name, or a Dulux or Taubmans paint — once for the whole job, or per cabinet. More
  8. Check it in 3D. Press 3, drag to orbit, press O to open every door. More
  9. Share it. Output → Share copies a link your client (or family) can open on any phone — no login. More
  10. Download the drawings. Output → Plan set (A3 PDF), or the cabinetmaker brief, install sheet and 3D files. More
Good to know

Your work saves automatically. Signed in, every job is also kept in your account in the cloud, so it opens on your other devices. Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) any time to search every command, and ? to see every shortcut.
